4 Pages 16 Bars... A Visual Mixtape

Saturday, June 8th was a very eventful day at the Silver Room in Chicago! There, I showed some of my work along with other artists for the "4 Pages 16 Bars" gallery show at The Silver Room! The show floor was packed all night with people of all kinds, there was amazing music... just good vibes all around. A lot of my friends came out to show support as well as Tony G. Williams, director of the upcoming documentary, "Carbonerdious". "Carbonerdious" covers what it's like to be black in America and also be a nerd. The entire week leading up to that Saturday, Tony documented me in my everyday life and there's even a segment where I talk cosplay and show off my Tera cosplay! It's bound to be a very entertaining and insightful doc, so please look forward to it.

Below is the description of "4 Pages 16 Bars" from the facebook page. If you will be in Chicago between now to July 7th, please make sure to stop by!

OH! One more thing!!! While at the show, I managed to sell two paintings! *throws confetti in the air*

The Black Age of Comics.

This is the term visionary Turtel Onli coined in 1992. This is the evolution of that vision.

With the emergence of Milestone Media, Brotheman, Love and Rockets, Tribe and other properties in the Eighties and early Nineties, the artist of color’s presence in sequential art could not be denied.

20 years later, the book Black Comix became the link that brought us artists of color together as a community. This exhibition is a celebration of where we came from and where we are going in this art form.

Each of the artists, known in the mainstream and independent comic book scene bring a unique, but shared viewpoint in the creation of their work.

Who are we? We are:

Jiba Molei Anderson (The Horsemen, Outworld, JBD)
John Jennings (Black Comix, Black Kirby, the Hole)
Ashley A Woods (Millennia War)
Kenjji Jumanne-Marshall (Witchdoctor)
Tony Maldonado (P.I. Jane)

This is visual Jazz, Rock, Funk, Soul, Hip Hop and electronic music.

We are Visual MCs... Come into our cypher and check the flow.
